Our Story
Shabitat, a well-loved Brighton institution dedicated to reusing, reducing, and recycling, is stepping into a new chapter as an independent workers co-op. Formerly part of Magpie Recycling Co-op Ltd, Shabitat remains firmly committed to its environmental mission, ensuring that pre-loved furniture, household goods, and materials continue to find a new lease of life.
“Though we’re now operating independently, our core mission remains the same: to reuse, reduce, and recycle. We’re calling on the Brighton community to support us in this new chapter—whether that’s by donating, shopping with us, or simply spreading the word.”
Donations
At Shabitat Workers Co-Operative, we rely on donations from local residents and businesses. If you have any furniture, clothing or anything else you’d like to donate, please call 07565 242032, or email shabitatbrighton@gmail.com
We offer collection and delivery of furniture and other larger items on Tuesday and Thursday.
We want to show our appreciation to our customers, so we have now introduced Shabitat vouchers. When we deliver furniture, if you have some items to donate at that time, we may offer a Shabitat voucher to spend in store at a future date.
Please note: All upholstered furniture needs to have a fire label attached.
